I'm having a strange issue with my modx site (Evo 1.0.6). Occasionally, the site will stop loading the style sheet and then force all of the links to https:// even though they admin settings are set to http://. Of course, without a SSL, it throws a security risk message.
The server admin has eliminated possible causes on the server and is suspicious that there they may a scripting error within modX.
I've searched the forums but this doesn't seem to be a known bug. Any thoughts on how modx could be doing this?
I have noticed that some browsers remove the "www" from the url bar, so when you save from the manager sometimes the path is with www and sometimes is without www. Maybe this could cause some issues with the path (not sure). You could try to add two lines of code in the .htaccess to make sure that there is always the www in the path.
Definitely check the .htaccess... You can also force .htaccess to remove the https:// in favor of http://
That depends... Do you have https access to your site at all, or do you plan to?
I do not..and do not plan to.
This should work (although I use a 301). Backup your .htaccess first. Then:
Change:
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
To:
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http.://%{HTTP_HOST}/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
P.S. Get rid of the dot after http and before ://

My problem with this whole thing is, why does the protocol get changed to https?
No clue. I know I was having problems on one of my sites, but actually had https and i was fouling up the links. My first thought is that it would be a server issue. But they eliminated that as an issue.
