It is likely the server configuration. If your server is set up as many are now as phpsuexec you need to make sure that you are not using any of the php directives in the .htacces files. This will cause 500 Errors. You may need to ask your host if you need to put php.ini files in your directories to enable php directives.

Try to comment out the compression and the register globals off part of the .htaccess file and see if the 500 error stops.

Other people here who know more about PHP servers might be able to give simpler directions.

      All the best,

After looking at your site it looks to me as if your install is not working correctly. Make sure you check the permissions on your directories to ensure that they are as they should be. Sometimes when you migrate an install the directory permissions aren’t correct. Check the permissions on the /assets/cache directory as it seems that this may be the cause. It should be 777 or 755.

        Hope this helps.

Thanks for your notes... Please see my htaccess. Only following are the uncommented ones. rest all are commented.

          #Options +FollowSymlinks
          RewriteEngine On
          RewriteBase /
          RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
          RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
          RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

Regarding the file permissions, I have tried both 777 and 755. Let me tell you that I could access the Manager module without any issues.

I have moved the rootfolder to a subdirectory. Which is accessible through http://gulfstay.com/modx

I have tried the configuration changes for the php in cgi mode, but in vien.

I have got the front page 2-3 times and then it got disappeared. I am not using the SEF URLs
