IIRC means: If I recall/remember correctly.

I'll have to stop using that here, seems not to be known 'round these parts... I feel old.

I'm also pretty sure that you can't just upload artwork to a site and order prints without logging in, or registering. Do you know of an actual site that allows people to upload artwork to be printed and not register for an account, at minimum... for payment?

Most of any modification you'll need to do with a snippet will be in the snippet call itself. The parameters given on an Extra's documentation page do nearly anything you want to do. Many are defaulted, and not necessary to include in the snippet call. Defaults are shown in the documentation. Only when you want to change the default, or add a specific parameter setting will you need to use them.

Ok, Nice One. And on the print sites, sure you need to log in / or register but what difference would that make?

        There is no difference.

You will want your users to also register with a valid email address, reply to it for verifications, and to log in to get access to the protected page with the file upload fields. Look at the Login and Register Extras for MODX. You'll want both of those. Plus, plan to take a nice long stroll through MODX Security here http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Security

Look also at Bob's Guides security tutorials and check out this video from Design From Within MODX ACL - Customize the manager using Access Controls, User groups and Roles

You might also want to look at the Subscribe extra (or the SubscribeMe extra, which will let you charge people). They will handle registration for you

Ok, so i now have the FileUpload snippet displaying on the front end (it wasn't showing due to an incorrect parameter - &path= , i set it to the main site's image folder for the minute). I'm working thru all your suggestions and pointers re. security issues and the fact that i should have some kind of user login / registration but before that, i want to ask, if someone does leave a comment (via Quip) that sends to the manager awaiting moderation- how would we know which images goes with which comments? So for example, maybe three people leave comments and all of them also upload some images. Would there be a way to have those comments and any corresponding images identified with each other?

Just one more thing as well, i notice by using the FileUpload add-on, now when someone leaves a comment on the blog, if they're also attaching images then they need to a) press the 'post' button to send their comment & then b) press another submit button to upload their images. Is it not possible that someone can just leave a comment, attach any images and press a post button just once which sends everything. Kind of something like how this very forum post works here- there's icons at the top of the comment box i'm typing in now such as to add an image, and then i just hit send. Maybe Articles, Quip and FileUpload are the wrong tools for the task i'm trying to achieve here. Add to that user registration etc. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

FileUpload was never designed to be used to connect specific images with specific Articles objects. It may work for that (though I've never tried it), but those functions should really be built into Articles/Quip.
