Almost twenty hours into this and I STILL havent managed to get a proper CMP working.
I have managed to get data to list ( woop dee doo ) and I managed to get an editor window to pop up - but this was all pretty useless as it was all copy/paste from other places and I have no idea how it was working.
Found an article that mentioned that it "gets easier in 2.3" - so, ignoring my worries of beta software, I dutifully download and install 2.3 - only to discover that yes, you can indeed get a file to display as a CMP much easier. Thats as far as the "gets easier" goes though! After that its back to the nigh-on-impossible ExtJS and the mountain of classes that go hand in hand with Ext. Twenty hours and nothing to show - Im not going to divulge what I can normally get going in 20 hours but I can assure you that its a shit load more than nothing!
I have a pretty out-of-the-box mind, I can work with pretty complex stuff - but this just takes the biscuit!
And, to cap it all off, after HOURS of searching the Big G for "modx cmp" and every combination of keywords I am now faced with page after page of purple links - in other words, I have already read everything I can humanly find and its still like trying to work out the DNA sequence on an early hominid.
Before I totally give up - is there a way that I can put a set of CMP pages together that do NOT use ExtJS? I am perfectly capable of handling my own pagination, grid searching, ordering and validation along with putting management forms together - I would very much appreciate being pointed to where I can find such information ....

Sorry - looked at MIGX the other day - not suitable for our requirements as I am (if this ever gets worked out) meant to be using ModX as our new application development platform - I need to know the ins and outs of working on the backend and extending management consoles.
Plus the MIGX addon has everything stored below the MIGX component drop down - not so much a 'Custom Manager Page' as an 'Extended Manager Page that can read from any table'
