I might be going about this backwards. I used modx a while ago for a project (before the split) and decided to check it out for a new project, it’s looking great. So here’s my basic problem (which I’m sure is simple). I have a basic home page, with a few featured products on it. My process for creating this is as follows. I have my main home page document, which uses a template with the basic nav/header/footer chunks in it and a space for content. I created a second template for the featured products with all the product features as template variables (image, name, description, etc) and created a blank document, with all the template variables filled in for a sample featured product.

Next, I wrote a chunk with the html for the featured products. Next, I wrote a snippet that selects a featured product and pulls out the template variable values from that document. Here’s where I get stuck. I’m not sure how to populate the featured product chunk with the template variables and display it on the home page.

To map it out a little bit if it helps to make what I’m saying clearer: I have

Homepage->calls featured product snippet->featured product snippet chooses a featured product document and retrieves the template variable values -> huh

Honestly, this is a perfect application for Ditto. Give it a try!

Thanks Ryan, I did take a look at Ditto but wasn’t totally sure how to use it. Is there any documentation for basic implementation anywhere - like, this is what Ditto does and here’s how to start using it? I saw the main ditto support site, but didn’t see any basic info like this.
