CRCs and 'site_content'

Can you make a CRC and have it be stored in a table other than the site_content table? If so, will it still be parsed like any other Resource?

Looking at the class core/model/modx/modresource.class.php, I find this:

So perhaps you could extend the modresource class to use a different table?

I just guessing, but I think if you created a schema for your object by copying the modResource schema and changing the table name, then used parseSchema() to generate the class file, it ought to work (assuming that you've created the new table).

I'm having a hard time thinking of a good reason to do this, though.

I know, but I specialize in that, anyway.

There are lots of applications, but they would be specialized according to the site or extra that needed that capability.

I know I can do this for any other CMP or class, but the CRC tutorial specifically mentions using the site_content table. Therein lies my confusion. I'll just have to test it and find out.
