I don’t know if this has been addressed before or not, but the modxcms.com site is really getting out of date. I know that the documentation is out of date, but the Features, Blog, and About sections are old too. I’d really like to send my clients to the site but they just get confused looking at the 0.9.2 stuff. Rather than just complain about this and hold it over the developers to do something about it, I’m wondering if there is any part of this that the community can take on. Hell, I can take a screenshot and update copy. What needs to get done so that we can get the site up to date?

We’re in the midst of a redesign actually and agree with your assessment. It’s being done with the balance of future knowledge of what’s coming and reworking a few things to make them function better (like the resources repository). Keep an eye out for it, and please keep any suggestions coming here.

I personally hope to Wiki will become the main information point for people, coupled with the Forum it should be a powerhouse of information for ModX.

The ModXcms.com site I see more as the place for guiding people to the right places, provide general overviews (Scope) of what ModX is and isn’t, and to hold the repositories.

A the Ditto Site, where there are links to relevant [SOLVED] or [TUTORIAL] forum topics added on the top right side, is pretty nifty as well. Maybe this could also be done in the Wiki "External Links" part.

I am happy to see this will not be ignored on the long term. In fact I had been wondering about it myself like why I can only reach the repo and the wiki by first going to the forums.

While I personally don’t really mind the state of the, let’s call it, "front page" I certainly think people new to the software rarely reach the relative content before they decide to seek elsewhere for something that presents itself in a more convincing manner. I won’t lie, if I would be searching for a suitable cms right now and I’d find documentation with screenshots and references to terms that don’t match the design and terminology of the current release anymore I could be scared away.

Last but not least it is likely that representatives of CMS award’s giving organizations and various open source communities miss relevant content as well.

I understand that redoing it is partially dependant on the version and that the timing might not be perfect right now but like I said good to read that it will be changed when the time is ripe smiley
