Answered Friendly URLs - Container Aliases Show Numbers, Not Names

I was pleased with how easy it was to set up Friendly URLs, but I've run into a slight problem. On the top level, everything looks fine:

domain.com/page-one/
domain.com/page-two.html

But when I go deeper in, the container aliases show their IDs instead of a name-based alias, e.g.

domain.com/32/page-three.html
domain.com/32/59/page-four.html

Is there some setting I'm missing, or maybe something awry in .htaccess?

This is quite unusual. Are you using any Add-Ons/Extras yet? AFIAK .htaccess cannot even know your IDs. One thought, FURLs behaves funny if you don't have Use Friendly Alias Path (in System Settings) turned on and you have pages of the same alias on multiple levels. You might check this setting?

P.S.: You must refresh your cache after changing this setting.

Yeah, I have various add-ons, but nothing too exotic.

Here's an interesting twist: I discovered that if I specify the alias when editing the container resources, then that appears instead of the ID.

(By the way, I've decided for this particular site I don't want the friendly alias paths after all, but it would still be nice to figure this out for future reference.)

If you don't specify an alias, what can MODx do? It has to put something in there. The ID is a logical consistent value.

This was probably an implementation decision as Resources are resource heavy enough as it is. If you don't have full-alias path set, it assumes that you don't want a full path. Therefore it won't generate one. If you want a path, set the Setting, otherwise accept that the system will make a poor decision (as most systems do when you aren't explicit about what you want).
