I'm using MODX Revolution 2.2.4-pl (traditional) running against MySQL. We've built a set of templates in a development environment. I'd like to migrate them up to our eval server for the test team. Later we'll do the same to the production server.

Our model is to build the skins in one environment, push to a new server for the test team to verify on, and then push to the production site. The push should include the skins but no content.

I don't want to migrate the entire MODX installation, just the templates. Googling "modx revolution migrate templates" didn't return anything that seemed relevant.

I know how to migrate the CSS, JS and image files. That's just a tarball copy and extract. What I don't know is how to copy over the templates that we've built.

You could place your templates into .html files, and then call them as static resources in MODX.

Will that carry over the definition of the template variables?

Maybe I'm asking the wrong question. The templates use template variables and chunks that are stored in the database. That's what we need to migrate over. I don't want to copy over the whole database because I don't want to lose the content that is currently in production.

Unless you rename the templates, your TV's will find them in the new install. Assigning the templates to static files might have to be done manually.

Or, wait a little bit for Bob Ray's new MyComponent release, it will likely do most all of what you want to do.
