connectors/lang.js.php?topic=login 401 (Not Authorized)

Hi All

I have setup MODX on a local staging domain

stage.xxx.com.local

and the manager is at

stage.xxx.com.local/manager

I have removed the core from the root folder, I have updated all the configs and have run the update setup afterwards.

Every time i try and log into the manager I get the following error:

connectors/lang.js.php?topic=login 401 (Not Authorized)

I deleted everything and started again and the same thing happens. I have searched around but cant find anything that will help.

Any ideas?

Just tried a basic vanilla install on stage.xxx.local and the same thing happens !!

Strange problem I only came across today, have been using this environment for months and it only creeped up now.
