Hello,
I'm facing some serious server issues. The problem occurred this morning for the first time. My web server was not responding via web interface and a SSH communication took almost 3-4 minutes (request-response). This lasted nearly for 20-25 minutes. I noticed two things:
- 50-80 httpd processes were active
- these httpd processes were using almost 80-90% of the cpu
These symptoms could be related to a ddos-attack, however netstat didn't show any suspicious connections.
Until now my server already broke down four times. A system reboot didn't solve the problem. However I took a look at one of my modx apache error logs which was refreshing each time the server had a break down. There I found a php error msg which seems to be related to the server break downs:
[Thu Aug 16 18:15:19 2012] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] PHP Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in /modx/core/xpdo/om/xpdoobject.class.php on line 262, referer: http://example.com/manager/index.php?a=30&id=3
My problem is that I have no clue how to fix this php issue. Yesterday I worked for almost 8 hours on this particular modx installation. So it's really hard to figure out what is causing this error. My question are now:
- Is this error message related to my server break downs?
- How can I fix this php issue?
Thanks for the help guys.
