I am totally new to this but really like what I have seen so far, I have worked though this tutorial http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Beginner%27s_Guide_to_MODx which is great and the tutorial mentions what i think is called a function call, near the end of the tutorial it mentions adding a breadcrumb trial using this
    [!Breadcrumbs? &maxCrumbs=`2` &showCrumbsAtHome=`0`!]

Now I am sure there must be a whole load of other calls to do more clever stuff but what are they, I have searched the documentation and cant find a list anywhere so am I overlooking something or are more not needed.

Anyway like I say I am very new to this but must say it’s the best cms I have ever seen and this is my 1st of probably many posts.

    Cheers

[!Anything? &between=`these brackets` !] are snippet calls. Snippets are pieces (sometimes quite large) of code that are written by members of the MODx community. There is no definite list of snippets, besides a few that are distributed with the MODx core. Have a look at the repository where you will find stacks of them. Each snippet mostly has some level of documentation within the snippet code itself. You can also browse the wiki for more info about some of the more popular snippets.

Keep reading the documentation and you’ll come across chunks, plugins and modules too.. Lot’s of those can be found in the repository as well.

Thanks for the info yes have been looking further and have found a huge resource of extras, like anything new it takes a while to learn how it works and I am not a php coder by any means so getting to grips with it takes me a while, however that beginner guide really did get me off the ground and would be great of there was like a part 2 explaining how to take things that bit further, anyway thanks again really pleased with MODX

        Cheers
