I've recently upgraded to 2.2.4 from 2.1.3 and a couple of days later I was informed of a problem with a load of weblinks no longer reaching their targets.

I've since discovered that putting the straight resource id into the weblink field isn't enough to get it there - you have to wrap it in the link tag: [ [ ~ id ] ].

I'm concerned about the timing, because the site operator has created about 10 weblinks and must surely have tested them at one stage or another, yet they all failed until I added the tag around the id today. I upgrade the site first on a test domain just to make sure it would go smoothly, which I thought it did. Unfortunately I don't have the old version running to check if it worked before. I might restore the backup unless someone can quickly tell me if something has indeed changed since 2.1.3.

And the bug: in both IE9, IE9 in IE8 mode, AND the latest version of FireFox on Win7 x64 fail to produce the comlete resource tag when dragging and dropping from the resource tree. For IE, all drag and drops fail completely, while using FF I have to drag the resource into another field, perhaps description or title, before copying and pasting the resulting text into the weblink field.

Has anyone else got this drag/drop problem, or is it just me? Seems a rather fundamental thing to fail. I thought it was IE at first because in IE, any version, modx is essentially crippled. But in FireFox things tend to run smoothly.

    Thanks for reading.
    • This was recently addressed as far as allowing numeric values or tag evaluations...

See https://github.com/modxcms/revolution/commit/bae49445471fed61e2d236f2e941cf83b6d79805 which will be included in 2.2.5-pl.
      • The drag-and-drop into the url field expects it to accept a simple ID number, as that's what gets inserted into the field. So it's not a drag-and-drop bug, it's the processing bug that's the problem.

I am not aware of any problems using MODX with IE9. It has worked fine so far with everything I am doing. Is there a list of issues for IE9 that I should look at?

Failure is just another word for saying you didn't want to try. "It can't be done" means "I don't know how".

This forum doesn't even work in IE9! Log in and the site shatters and bounces off the sides.

            As for modx itself:

The resource tree pane doesn't render wide enough to display the 'purge deleted items' button in its top right corner. There are all kinds of UI glitches, added to the fact that the whole manager UI looks rather odd in comparison to how it appears in FF. There are all kinds of js related glitches which appear never to have been tested in IE.

My experience is that it works 90% of the time, but that 10% affects almost every single session, and I'm only doing basic things.
