    Hello,

yesterday i read a posting on this forum where Opengeek was telling that the new functionality with Contexts, new improved API, etc. was about 70% ready. Only, this posting was done in april 2006. It seems that over 1 year later we’re still at about the same stage, when reading opengeeks postings.
I do understand perfectly well that MODx is opensource, and i respect all the time and effort that the developers put in it.
But i post this because in our company we are currently having a discussion about either developing our own fork of MODx, or wait for the new functionality to appear in MODx 0.9.7 and 1.0. So for us it’s important to know how realistic these roadmaps and futureplans of MODx are, to decide what to do.
Idealisticly, we really want to participate and help to bring MODx to the next level, both with knowledge and experience (we have some bigtime PHP and database knowledge in-house) and financially. But this also would mean that we need to have a littlebit more insight and controle about the development-traject, so it’s realistic for us to help and participate.
F.e., we really need and want versioning, multiple front-end sites and workflow support in MODx. We could develop this in-house and see that 0.9.7 is released in 2 months, and is incompatible with our modification of MODx, or we could jointly develop these functions that imho most people would want in MODx.
So what would be the best and next step to get MODx to a level where both the current lead-developers, the users, and we as a company, would all benefit?

    Kind regards,

    Olaf Molenveld

FYI, we’re definitely interested in joint development... tremendously so. smiley
