    Hi!

I'm considering using SimpleCart for a small shop that offers downloadable items, but unfortunatly SimpleCart does not support downloads yet. The Dev assured me that it should be possible with hooks.

Before re-inventing the wheel: Has someone here implemented something like that or written some other custom hooks for SimpleCart so I can get an idea how easy it would be to do?
    • Frischnetz,
I understand entity the desire to not re-invent the wheel. So I would ask you this question: Why SimpleCart?

You could use FoxyCart, it is already designed to support this type of function. How were you planing on handling distributions of content?

      • Link via email for download?
      • Access to secure download environment that they can download from over and over again?
      • Or do you have something else in mind?

Let me know so I can help you.... with some direction

I know, it's simply a question of pricing. The shop is really low-profile: It is for an artist who wants to distribute some self-designed postcards, prints of her work and some texts/poems in PDF form. I guess the sales volume would be equal or less than the montly plan for foxycart. So a one time payment would be better.

Sending the file as email-attachment would also be an option. This is nothing I would recommend for a normal shop but in this case it would be acceptable.

        Any help would be appreciated.
        • Ok so the best option solution would be to use the receipt that emails the customers already. Then use a placeholder to select the file name that is delivered.
          • I'm rather fond of the JQuery SimpleCart http://simplecartjs.org/features/

While it handles the cart and checkout, it would be necessary to use a snippet or plugin to deal with the download part. Shouldn't be too difficult to do.
