When editing a Resource then clicking the 'Save' button the Manager reloads but with a New Document page and not the page I just edited. This only happens on the remote server, when using MAMP Pro it works fine. Aside from that the edited page is updated and all is good but it is annoying to have to close the New Document page every time I save an edit. It also happens in every browser I've tried so it's not that.

This is a new development and aside from recently updating my Mac's OS nothing else has changed locally and as far as I know nothing has changed with regard to the server configuration.

    Revo 2.2.4
    Remote Server OS: Linux
    PHP: 5.2.17
    Apache: 2.2.21
    MySQL: 5.1.63-cll

The cryptic icons at the upper right control what happens when you save a resource. If you hover over them, you should see a solution to the problem. Just click on the one you want.

Thanks Bob, that did the trick. Cryptic is right. What exactly is their purpose (other than confusing me)?

If you had a whole bunch of pages to create at one time, it would be convenient turn on "Add another." TBH, though, I never use it.

I argued for text instead of icons up there (as it used to be) but attractive design won out.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I agree, text would help. It's kind of a UI "dead-zone".

            • +1 on the text for those buttons. It got me too once. TG for Bob being around to bail us out, right?

Although once you've been caught by this, it's unlikely to baffle ya again. New users would benefit the most from text. Or, just omit it entirely and put the option into system settings. If one really needed this option, changing the setting wouldn't be too much to ask from a user. Like many other settings.

I'd think a button to change where the TV's are displayed would be far more useful. Sometimes I like them below the content, say while developing. But for everyday use and for end users who need to be reminded that their stuff is easily editable in the TV, I like the tab to show ("Can you make xxx word bold? I don't know how to do that... what's a Template Variable?" echos in my ear...).

                Thanks for the kind words.

BTW, have you tried the tvs_below_content System Setting. wink

                • Yep, that's what I was referring to. Found that one after installing 2.2 the second time expecting TV's below the content (as advertized and as occurred previously) but they weren't there. That only took a couple hours of searching and hunting...

                  To switch out the button for the resource display and replace it with the move TV's setting, that's my bright idea for the day :~}

You can submit it as a feature request: http://bugs.modx.com.

I suspect, though that most people would want to set it once and leave it alone. OTOH, it would be nice for users who can't access System Settings, though you could create a User Setting for them (or, if you have the energy, CMP that let's them set it -- or a snippet and form that does the same).
