    Hello, totally new modx user here. I just installed revo version 2.2.2 thru the traditional or built in install method offered by hostgator cpanel....(seems 2.2.4 isnt available on the server yet) and I was reading about resources and how to start templating...and am noticing the documentation isnt quite matching my admin experience. It may not be WAY off, but because I am so new it is making it a little difficult to know what may be pertinent in the future and what is really where. For example I was reading every resource carries its own unique ID, and there is supposed to be a place for that ID in the edit resource area but not showing that at all in 2.2.2. So was wondering is this because I am not on 2.2.4? Or is the documentation written for a prior 2.2.x than 2.2.2?

    Also, if I want to upgrade to 2.2.4....was trying to read the documentation to upgrade to 2.2.x but seems it was written to upgrade from before version 2 altogether? How do I upgrade manually if I just want to upgrade from 2.2.2 to 2.2.4....sorry if these seem like newbie questions....

    Thanks

      :::::::::::UPDATE:::::::::::

      I have successfully upgraded to v2.2.4 since and I am glad to report that it was remarkably easy and everything went off without a hitch! Unless anyone replies, I guess I will just experiment with the system and see how that goes. Can't be that terrible lol....

        The resource ID is the number in parentheses next to the resource's name in the Tree (on the left of the Manager page).

        The same goes for elements, their ID is the number in parentheses next to their name.

        This ID number is actually just the auto-increment number of the record in the MySQL database.

        You cannot change it, in fact you don't ever want to change it. It is the unique identifier of that resource or element throughout its lifetime.

        It doesn't at all matter what the ID is, as long as it is the unique identifier for the object. So your "start" or "home" page can be #1 or #235467, MODx will always know just what resource is actually being referred to.

Tot makes sense now.

            A lot of little details like this aren't in the official documentation. That's why sites like bobsguides are so useful. Different people see things from a different angle. I've always much preferred to get information from at least three different sources, as that way you get the three different points of view and a well-rounded understanding of the subject in question.
