Creating local dev of existing site

I followed http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Moving+Your+Site+to+a+New+Server exactly to create a dev version of the site on my local machine. The main problem was that the site is using Articles and Quip as blog and the blog ended up disappearing completely. In the resources I right click and Create and there's no 'Create New Article' menu choice, but there should be.

Should I skip the setup update?

Any other tips for creating a copy of the site? We'll be looking to move servers in the next few months and need a method to recreate the site on a new machine that doesn't break certain packages, etc...

Using MODX Revolution 2.2.0-pl2 (traditional).

Try deleting all the files in the core/cache directory and clearing your browser cache and cookies, if you haven't already.
