Hi, I have a folder in my root directory going to the member area, which has an htaccess setting to check for passwords. Can I use chunks/templates/ aso from modx in both areas of the site? Can I display certain content from the member area for example thumbs and display them in the normal user area of the site?
or will any request out of the member folder be asked for a password? I am not sure, since most of that stuff recides in the database, and therefore should be available in both places. Does anyone have some input on how to set something like this up cleverly?

    thanks in advance, much appreciated!

What is the reason to place the files in the protected area and then trying to display it to the public?

well, I am converting a page that is setup like that, and I was asked to preserve the current layout at least in the non-member area. It is a site that has a picture gallery as main content (not porn btw, this site deals with tattoos). The non member area shows just the thumbs, but not the larger picture. Same with articles, the full version is in the protected area.
The content is also fully searchable. looking for studio-artist names and such, the result displayed in the non member area, again is only part of the information.

Now, I realize in modx that are no real pages or folders, so how can I use the htaccess file in ’www.domain.com/members/’ ?
The payment processor in use is netbilling, and I believe they constantly change that htaccess file or the htpassword file. is there a way to incorporate this into modx?

This is only for the normal ’members’. They also want me to add an extra member section for:
          b)tattoo studios
          c)tattoo artists
          d)custom designed tattoos
each one of those the user gets a customizable homepage and many various other functions, relating to their needs.

what is the best way to set something like this up with google friendly url’s enabled, at least in the non-member areas?

          thanks for your reply!

This could be done in different ways for sure, but easiest way is to duplicate the documents and assign the 2-3 levels of member access sections to 2-3 different user groups, ofcourse there is no limit in groups numbers and permisions, leave the limited edition of contents to the public and special edition of contents to the assigend member groups... have no idea about netbilling but i’m sure that if you put the request in the right forum/topic you’ll get the response, and for customizable pages for each user i think PPP is for you and the FURL’s also possible to be...

thank you! as far as I understand now i simply make however many ’groups as needed, and assign relevant documents to them, while still being able to pull or search any information from the mysql-db I need. Cool. Guess that answered my question. I am still confused about how the login will automaytically redirect to the correct group/userpage, but perhaps that is a question I should ask over in the that other forum. Which one is best for the payment processor questions?
yeah!~those snippets will do parts of the job, I’ll check them out ...

Thank you! I just came across another issue, obviously the links within the member area need to point to different page id’s, and wayfinder is currently using the links for the non-member area. Can I have two wayfinders?
or how else does one deal with that?

                    Refer to wayfinder wiki page...
