How do I create an Articles Container from the Front End

I'm in the situation where I need users to be able to create multiple blogs from the front-end. I know you can use NewsPublisher to create any Resource, including Articles. Is there any way to create an Articles Container using a similar method? Can NewPublisher be used to create an Articles Containers too? From this, I need to be able to post right away, without going to the MODX Manager. Any ideas?

Note: I would be extremely happy if I could just do this with a Snippet rather than NewsPublisher. Are the Articles Container properties simply Template Variables?

Note: I reason that it would be even more awesome if I could just copy a "blank slate" Articles Container. Is there any way to copy a resource via xPDO in a snippet?

OK. After poring a little more... I think I can use:

  $new = $modx->resource->duplicate();

Then, I should be able to set the unique properties, such as Page Title, Long Title and alias.

I'm going to test that now.

Confirmed. This works beautifully. It, however, copies all of the children, as well. After reviewing the documentation on resource->duplicate(), it allows for an options array. It doesn't state what options it allows. Does anyone know which options may be set on resource->duplicate()? [ed. note: fuzzicallogic last edited this post 14 years, 2 months ago.]

search for the formit2resource-hook in the forums.

you can also use the resource/create and resource/update - processors from frontend called by the runProcessor - method

$duplicateChildren = isset($options['duplicateChildren']) ? $options['duplicateChildren'] : true;

Also available:

$options['newName']
$options['parent']
$options['overrides']  // let's you set other field values, I think.

BTW, get yourself a copy of PhpStorm and make a project out of the core code (or a whole MODX install).

Then you can search the whole project for things like "function duplicate" and see the actual code or do regex searches for more specific bits of code.

I should probably do that, but I've already got an obsessive personality. So asking is probably better for my personal health. LOL. Nevertheless, I will probably get PhpStorm any way (because I have an obsessive personality...),
