    I cleared my server of all files and re-installed everything. Manager is working fine, my "show site" url is www.ammoniagauge.com/modx, my template is loading well, and I've uploaded the old html pages to my resources/made the site_start the new hompage id, etc. Right now, however, I have a blank homepage with just the dark brown background. I assume this background is populating from the css in my template, but am not sure how to get the rest of it to come online. I believe I have everything loaded as it should be, but would love some obvious/not so obvious tips. Thanks!

      I noticed an .htaccess file in the screenshot of the MODX root directory you posted in the other thread.

      Check the Friendly URLs (FURLS( System Setting (Go to System -> System Settings and type friendly in the search box at the upper right).

      If the use FURLS setting is on, you need the .htaccess file.

      If the use FURLS setting is off, you need to *not* have the .htaccess file (rename it).

      I'd recommend the second option for now (FURLS off, no .htaccess). That will take FURLs out of the picture while you try to sort things out.

      If that doesn't do it, try right-clicking on the site_start page and select "View" -- see what URL that sends you to and whether you see the page.

        Hi! You are always so nice to reply! I did these two things... FURL is set to "no" so I renamed my .htaccess file to .htaccess1. Should it be something farther off from the old file name?

        When I right clicked on my home resource page this is the URL:
        http://www.ammoniagauge.com/modx/index.php?id=25. This page came up with a brown background and a template in the view page source, but no html below it.

        Then, I shortened it to www.ammoniagauge.com/index.html (what it's supposed to be, and the page came up). However, even though I've changed my nameservers to the new host, it's still pulling from the old host (I put some text in my template so I would know this when I viewed the page source).

        When I shortened the first url to: http://www.ammoniagauge.com/modx/index.html I received a 404 error that said it wasn't found on the server. I've seen some other threads that say the index.php is interfering with the index.html file, but am not sure how to remedy this.

        Thoughts on what I should do next? Thanks for all your help! smiley

          Ah, MODX pretty much requires that you not have an index.html file in the root directory. That's definitely a big part of your problem. Try renaming it to old.index.html.

          I think your change in .htaccess is enough, but just to be sure, I'd take the dot off the front. I usually call it htaccess.bak.

            Thanks for that info!! smiley
            I made those two changes to my file names... What should I name the resource alias for the page I want to be the homepage? It's now called "index" and was when the old modx was running, too, because it all populated that way when I imported these files. My "home" page is currently unpublished to allow the index page to show on the homepage. All my pages are imported html from the old modx at the old host.

              I'm afraid I don't fully understand that question. It sounds like you have two "home" pages, which you can't have in MODX.

              I usually use 'home' as the alias for the home page (the one specified by the site_start system setting). It should always be published, because it's where the user will go when they go to ammoniagauge.com.

              All other pages can have any alias you like, though I wouldn't use 'index' for any of them.

                Okay- I changed the alias of my site_start page and deleted the "home" page that came with modx. My only issue now is why I can't get any of my html pages to show up when I hit view or on their regular URL. For instance, my homepage is this: http://www.ammoniagauge.com/modx and another of my page's (as an example) is this: http://www.ammoniagauge.com/modx/manager/?a=30&id=3. If I can get this figured out, I think it might be my last issue before sending it live-- hopefully. smiley Thanks for any tips you can give as to what I should try next. I haven't found any other threads to be helpful. smiley

                  Do you have this in the head section of all templates:

                  <base href="[[++site_url]]" />

                  Are you sure the Use Friendly URLs System is off?

                  I hate to bring this up, but do you need to have the site in a subdirectory? Would you rather have users be able to just go to http://amonniagauge.com, instead of having 'modx' in all URLs?

                    I did have it set at : <base href="[[++site_url]]" />, so I changed it to url to "start." Nothing happened once I saved that template and viewed the site, even when I cleared the cache. Now when I view site instead of ammoniagauge.com/modx coming up in the view source next to "base href," my page id number comes up.

                    Use Friendly URL's is set to "no."

                    I do want it to just be at www.ammoniagauge.com and am not sure why it's pulling in the modx... probably because my folder is modx in my cpanel file manager? I'm so anxious to figure this out and have been reading/trying different things all day. smiley

                      My first sentence came out funky--
                      <base href="[[++site_start]]" />
                      is what I have now. I did have it set at "site_url."
