Not really Modx related, but I wonder when renting a (small) VPS with these settings:
Howmany small modx websites can i host on this?
Xeon Quad processor
1024MB RAM memory
10GB HD
2000GB data a month
Direct Admin
CentOS
I'm hoping to put on 20 / 25 sites, lets say quite small MODX evo website, about max 50 visitors a day per site.

It really depends on how you configure the server as to how many sites one server can handle. I know most of our servers can handle 30-70 sites, granted depending on the location they have 2-16 cores, and at least 20GB of disk space.
I would highly suggest finding a different provider if you are only getting 10GB of disk space, considering the OS and Control Panel will chew up a few GB right off. It's really not enough space for what you are trying to do.
Plus you need to factor in how the virtualization is being handled, openvz for example will give you a different result then xen pv or xen hvm, and those are a few of the common choices.
If you can give me any more details I'd be happy to give you a few suggestions.

If there will be 8GB left over it would be 300Mb à site when placing 25 sites, indeed a bit less space.
