    Hello,

Everything on the install seems to be working fine, except I can’t connect to the database. I’ve played with the username/password a number of times, and even exited to my hosting control panel and setup my own MySQL database with the same name (database = modx, table = _modx), entered user/password, and it still can’t connect. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, I’m not sure if this matters or not, but I ftp’d all the modx files into a folder called "modx" in my domain root. I’m not sure if that name is doing me harm now, or if I should have just uploaded all the modx files directly to the root without being in a folder (though I heard that there is a file that (haccess or something...) that allows you to enter a shorter path as a url (without the modx)

    Help please!

The password encryption changed with MySQL 4.1. It may be that your server is newer than 4.1 but your client is older. In which case you need to change your password to the old format using I think OLD_PASSWORD. Do a search for it for details.

Sometimes hosting companies automatically add a prefix to database names and MySQL user names. Check if this is the case or not.
