I need to add a tab to the main menu in the Manager (next to Security, Tools Reports...) that will link to another page outside of MODx on the web site. What file do I need to edit to do this?
What I would recommend is to create a module that simply redirects (either via header or echoing a meta refresh tag). Then it would show up in the modules menu.
The file is manager/frames/menu.php if you still wish to edit it.
Ahh...it all makes sense now. I went the module route as you suggested. Thanks for the tip!
