    Hi All,

    Details:

    • Running Revo 2.2.4
    • Have multiple contexts set up including two different domains which point at the install (dont know if this has any relevance)
    • I DO NOT have the addon installed - this is in relation to the 'core' phpthumb
    • [li]phpthumb does produce some thumbs found here - /httpdocs/core/cache/phpthumb - so is not *fully* broken

What initially sparked my curiosity was finding loads of errors in my modx error log such as the below:

    [2012-08-01 15:36:31] (ERROR @ /connectors/system/phpthumb.php) phpThumb was unable to generate a thumbnail for: /var/www/vhosts/DOMAIN.com/httpdocs/core/cache/phpthumb/phpThumb_cache_www.DOMAIN.com_src9d86ad8a5f381b057db16640dcf6a6c8_paradf896d45f319fa323d889e84ccb98c5_dat0.jpeg
    [2012-08-01 15:36:32] (ERROR @ /connectors/system/phpthumb.php) Error outputting thumbnail:
OutputThumbnail() failed because !is_resource($this->gdimg_output) in file "phpthumb.class.php" on line 557

    My questions are:

    • Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the above errors?
    • When would phpthumb be getting fired? I do not reference it on ANY pages it would seem very inefficient for it to be producing thumbs that I don't need?
    • Can phpthumb just be turned off in the core - I have looked at the phpthumb system settings and can not see anything to indicate this?

    Thanks in advance

      Ok to answer my questions...

      • All of the calls to php thumb of were being made by the manager when people were uploading images via the back end. I hadnt realised that was where the calls were originating from - as do not use php thumb of any where on the front end....(probably should have picked up on that sooner)
      • With regards to the errors in the log - these were not at all Modx related. I had my php ini setting for max upload and script processing time set appropriately BUT I am running my server under FCGI its on a VPS and the host company had set the FCGI settings really low. I changed them to the Apache defaults and my server is now running like a dream with a clean error log!!! WHOOP!. More on the FCGI settings here - http://httpd.apache.org/mod_fcgid/mod/mod_fcgid.html#fcgidmaxrequestlen
