One User > One Page

Hi All

First - a massive thank you to everyone who’s responsible for MODXCMS, the templates and all the modifications I’ve seen.

I’ve only just gotten started with it, but I haven’t had this much fun since I first discovered plugins for Wordpress!

I have built my first site (using the stunning SimplicityX template) for a friend of mine who is VERY impressive with the results and now want to try something a bit more advanced and was wondering if I could have some advice ...

I want to build a community-type website where I can assign editing/moderation privileges to specific users for specific pages ...

So for example:

http://www.domain.com/folder1/page1.html > moderated by user23
http://www.domain.com/folder2/page2.html > moderated by user24
http://www.domain.com/folder3/page3.html > moderated by user25

Each page will have its own comments/ratings section.

Assuming this is possible with MODXCMS, what is the best way of setting up Users/Roles/Permissions to accomplish this?

I’ve been wanting to do exactly the same thing, and while you can do it in the way the documentation suggests, that’s a pretty clumsy way, because you have to set each document up as a document group by itself, and each user as a user group by themselves, then link the groups. A couple of other ways were suggested to me:

I haven’t actually done either of those, because I’m not sure whether they will work when the API is updated in 0.9.7 and I don’t want to do the work twice.

Yes, I have the same problem. I will go ahead and build the rest of the site and wait to deal with the users and user pages at the end.

It would be a good feature to have either as a plug-in or as part of the core since I see this issue often in this forum.

There is also the problem that PPP is still in beta as far as I can tell.
