I created a Media Source that points to a specific directory on the server. I want my admin users to see that path and NOT the default files system path.

It seems that the Media Source that I created has to be selected from the drop down menu each time.

How do I make my Media Source the default?

"Default" is a relative term here. Default for whom? Each user belongs to a group, and groups can be assigned media resources. So assign the group your admin users belong to to that media source.

Susan's approach is easier, and better. If you still want the users to have access to the default, though:

Create a User Setting with the key "media_source_default" and the ID of the media source as the value for each user you want to change the default from. (Or just change the same System Setting to the custom MS and give yourself a User Setting of the main MS)

I make the default media resource the one that's available to users and then add the second media resource as the one for me as sys admin.
