My client is experiencing a weird glitch where backslashes are showing up before every apostrophe they publish. UTF thing? I recently updated the heads of my templates to html5 so i could incorporate media queries. Could this be it? Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

It has to do with the PHP magic_quotes_gpc setting in the php.ini file. Your hosting probably upgraded the version of PHP or something to change that PHP configuration setting.
Thanks guys. Ended up adding a simple phrase to htaccess file.
