I have a client who is struggling to find suitable MODX developers with sufficient skills in MODExt / CMP creation. It's not easy to assest developer skills from those listed in the MODX developers directory.

Are you comfortable working with MODExt/ExtJS and have experience with building CMPs of medium to advanced complexity?

If you can make sense out of this - modx.panel.resource.js - please send me a PM!

    Cheers

    Luke

I got the same problem - I have spent weeks trying to figure out how to create complex / stepped Admin pages ( other than the super-basic CRUD functions that the bloody Doodles tut gives you )

If I get anywhere I will return and offer you help - IF i get anywhere that is!

Hey Ben. Actually I'm pretty confident with creating CMPs, but was looking to recruit some other devs to help work on some projects.

Post your code on the forums if you're struggling - you'll probably get some assistance and others will learn from it too.

          Cheers

Well - I'll just take my foot out of my mouth lol! Misread the post! Sorry about that dude!

In seriousness though - is there a way to create CMP's without all the extJS stuff? I mean, I'm pretty good at this stuff and I find it a *total* headache to figure out the way to build up a complicated form. Is there a way to build it from templates and interact with the PDO directly rather than using the extJS script files and the JSON passthrough?

Or is extJS the only way ... ?

Haha no problem smiley I found it all pretty confusing to begin with, but quite a lot of late nights and it started to 'click'. ExtJS / MODExt is very powerful and eventually a big time saver if you can find the time to figure it out.

Sure - check this really basic example:
              http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Custom+Manager+Pages+Tutorial
You can modify the index.php file to do and return anything you like. Plain html is fine, you just won't have pretty grids, windows, drag and drop, etc...

It's also worth spending some time getting to know MIGXdb:
              http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/MIGXdb

And I haven't tried this but it looks useful:
