Send email to selected users?

Before I sit down to hand bang this out myself.... Does anyone know of an extra for the manager context that will allow admins to send an email to a given user?

- I would like the admin to be able to choose from several email templates [ideally chunks]
- admin should be able to choose the user from a drop down [or filter]
- admin should be able to edit the email

... that's really about it...

I looked through the extras, but found nothing that looked right.

Using Subscribe and Notify will let you send email to users selected by User Group and/or tags in the User Profile. It will allow different Tpl chunks and editing and preview of the email, but it won't give you a drop-down list of users.

I imagine that Notify could be modified to give you a list of users to send to (I think I'd use checkboxes rather than a list), but the Groups and Tags might actually be easier to use. The possible tags show up as buttons on the form.

You can use Notify without Subscribe to send the emails if you populate the user groups and tags yourself. Subscribe lets the users manage their own tags (if you want it to) and (optionally) handles user registration.
