I’m wondering if anyone knows of a plugin or snippet which allows you to add documents quickly?
Basically, I want to be able to log in to Modx and have the standard interface but with some task orientated options for CMS users.
The "home page" of the cms is great for developers - but users who dont know what "resources" or "security" etc...mean, might just want a big button that says "Add news story" or "Add new event" which when clicked is equivalent to the right-click -> create document here approach. For the sake terms of simplicity I’d like to achieve the later.

I posted recently with a similar idea. Basically some kind of configurable interface in the manager that allows you to specify a new document type based on a template, a parent document and some settings. For example:
[Event]
template=Event page
parent=2
category=latest
This would somehow translate into a "create event" button in the manager. When clicked it would create a new document using the "event page" template, automatically set the parent to document ID 2 and set the template variable called category to "latest".
