addPackage transient question

I notice that some add-on components have the transient argument for loading their classes set to true, but I couldn't deduce any principles for when to use this.

Are there guidelines for when a loaded class should not be transient?

I'm thinking of, for example. NewsPublisher, which has a fairly large class and might be reused a number of times in a user session.

Transient classes are those which do not represent a database table; it tells xPDO if it should be looking for a map file related to the class that contains the field metadata describing the table/columns it represents. If transient, it would not look for the map file.

Almost all of my add-on's classes don't represent a DB table (unless I'm misunderstanding what that means). It sounds like they (and a lot of other add-on's classes) should be transient. Is the only difference a slight speed increase in loading the class?

IIRC, most of the basic Extra's classes are loaded as transient.
