Installed several components, successfully. They show in the Components drop down, but when clicked and the manager reloads, it remains empty except for the resource tree on the left...
I have a working Traditional install on the same server for comparison, therefore I assume it has to do with the advanced configurations somehow. Other details about this install seem to work normally. It correctly finds resources and displays them on a web page.
What part of the components or the manager might be failing here? This seems true for all installed components. What do I look for? Thanks!

Try turning off the compress_js and compress_css System Settings and then deleting all files in the core/cache directory.

That was done on July 4th, just to get the manager working. It now works correctly except for not showing the Component controls. Since this was installed and working there are at least a dozen times I've cleared the cache via manual deleting of all Cache files.
I've posted another question about what to do to be able to turn the compression back on, since I considered that to be a different issue than this one. Is there a separate compression factor for Component controls???
