Modx Revolution 2.2.4 Install: "MODX could not create your database. Please manually create your database and then try again."

Hi there, after being absent for a while I have now decided to dive back into Modx again.
However, during installation of type "Basic" I get the following message from the installer when it comes to set up the database:
"MODX could not create your database. Please manually create your database and then try again."

I did read that thread but couldn't find out how the issue has been solved.

Any advice for a re-starter?

This means that the database user/password you are using does not have permissions to create a database. This is quite common in CPanel hosting situations. You have to use the hosting's database management client to create a database and assign it a user with enough permissions to manage the database.

When you do create a database, make sure that you set it up to use the character set/collation that you want; this most likely would be utf-8. That is usually not the default charset/collation when creating a MySQL database, so double-check that.

your answer might be perfectly correct. What's puzzling me though is that:
1. I did not change my host provider since my previous modx-install ( a pretty looooong time ago ;-)
2. The first time I did the install (same ModxRevo version) the dbtables were successfully created, and I had to remove them manually to prepare another try...
because the installation failed later on for other reasons. Eventually I did not reach a successful install.
