Is there any benefit to using articles vs 3-5 addons (getResources, getPage, TagLister, Quip, Archivist), to structure your own blog.
The only thing I see is that Articles gives you a nice interface to manage everything comfortably. But I also feel it will leave me with less control. Of course, articles also seems to simplify the implementation process.

What kind of control are you looking for - manager or front end? Articles packages together those addons and you can still use any of them independently for formatting your articles in the front end. You can also modify any of the default Articles templates and chunks as you need.
The Articles manager interface is far more intuitive and user-friendly than the 'classic' blog solution in my opinion.
You will also have *much* more convenient control over the styling of your blog with Articles than with any traditional blog package.

PLEASE, PLEASE specify the version of MODX you are using.

Well, after reading up as much as I could on articles there seems to be a general concensus that it is MODx's best "blogging" solution.
Guess I'll have to get my hands dirty and see just how good it is.
Thanks for the help!
