Install modx in subdirectory

Hi!

I guess i have to apologize for this thread, as I am sure this was discussed before. However, I had a hard time finding related information, so I hope you are generous

I like my webspace tidy, therefore I would like to install modx inside a subdirectory (like "modx/").

Is there a way to do so but still have modx manage the whole domain (not only the subdirectory "modx/") AND use friendly urls?

I wouldn't say that modx revo is particularly messy as in the root you'll have assets, connectors, core and manager directories. Not to many single files laying around in the root, only index.php and config.core.

But I do know you can move some of the folders around, i've not done it myself but am due to play around with it soon as it will tighten up security. Have a read of the hardening MODX Revolution section in the rtfm.
