Assigning multiple tags to articles

I'm new to Articles and seem to be missing something fundamental: I see the "Tags" field under Article Options in my manager page, but I want to assign more than one tag to an article. How?

Bump, sorry but I'm receiving no responses. I now see that tags are set with the template variable "articlestags". But when I set up articlestags using input option>tag values (values separated with "||"), then assign them to my article and save, the assigned tags never appear, and indeed, when the article (post) is opened again, the tags no longer appear in the article's Template Variables tab.

I'm missing something here that isn't explained at all in the rtfm docs re: Articles.Can some nice soul out there (Bob, where are you when I need you?) please explain the steps for creating tags for Articles?

Try this: tag1,tag2,tag3

No spaces.

Bob! thanks, you were there when I needed you... your suggestion works, but isn't there a way to use the articlestags TV? I've got lots of tags and it'd be helpful if my client didn't have to recall the correct tag for every posted article.

I don't actually use Articles (yet), but maybe the TV is just for showing the tags for a particular article and linking to other articles with the same tags.

BobRay, Articles is a promising solution to what has been a big missing piece of modx for lots of users. We need your good brain and astute comments that have helped so many folks in this forum over the years, myself included. Anyway, your book's next edition will have to devote a chapter to Articles, so please get with it!


As for the articlestags TV, it appears to be designed for assigning multiple tags to individual articles (ie, posts), but not working the way I'd suspect, so perhaps I'm off base here. I've searched high and low for documentation about this tag, but not finding anything so far. If I'm mistaken, then in my humble opinion we need some way to easily assign multiple tags to posts, much like Wordpress or other blogging platforms do, before Articles can hit the big league.

It should be possible to use JavaScript to create tag buttons above or below the tags field to add/remove existing tags in the tags field. I did it for the Notify package, but they're not Articles tags.

I suspect that it's on the roadmap for Articles.

Being able to add/remove existing tags in the field, similar to how Auto-Tag Input Type works would be awesome. Especially if it displayed all the tags used on the site to choose from.
