    I'm using MODX 2.2.0-pl2 (traditional)

    PROBLEM 1

When going through mysite.com/setup during the MODX installation, at the Database connection and login information page, I set the Connection character set to utf8 and the Collation to utf8_general_ci.

The database gets created along with its tables without a problem.

I log in to the Manager and go to Reports > System Info, and the Database charset is set to utf8.

However, when I go to my Database Manager (I use http://www.sequelpro.com), the Encoding for every table is set to cp1252 West European (latin1), and their Collation is set to latin1_swedish_ci.

Why does it do that, I don't know, but I believe it's causing my 2nd problem...

    PROBLEM 2

I am creating a website in Chinese, using Chinese characters. I've received the content in a Word document, that I've Saved as Website with a UTF8 Encoding. When copying & pasting the Chinese characters ( 首页 ) into my Manager's Content Editor, they show up as they're supposed to (as Chinese Characters). After saving the resource and refreshing the Manager, the Chinese characters became question marks: ( ?? ) on both the Manager's Content Editor and the actual site's page.

Please help me fix this so I can create the website in Chinese.
    Thank you.

Hmm. I just downloaded it, and all of my utf-8 Revo sites are fine.

Your MySQL configuration may be to blame. I think this would solve your problem: http://bobsguides.com/convert-db-utf8.html

You might also be able to create a new DB with the proper settings in PhpMyAdmin before installing MODX. Be sure the user has full rights.

          CORRECTION

I just realized: I am using MODX Revolution 2.1.5-pl (traditional), not 2.2.0 as mentioned in my previous post.
