High load on server and error logs

One of our clients has a site that gets around 15,000 views a day. Over the past few weeks the server load has jumped to about 150 (normally around 4). I think part of the problem was with either phpThumbOf and/or AutoFixImageSize. I've disabled AFIS and things got better for a while, but now the load has been jumping up again seemingly randomly. Below is what's in the MODX error log. Can anyone help me with what the issues might be?

Currently the site is running 2.1.0-rc4 (traditional), but there are plans to upgrade very soon to 2.2.4-pl. Thanks for any help you can give!

There seem to be several issues, including with SimpleSearch, but I would first disable the cache_db setting to rule out issues caused by this feature being enabled. I highly doubt you need the database caching with only 15,000 views per day anyway.

Thanks! I've disabled cache_db and updated SimpleSearch. I'll let you know if it helps!

I did get this error though. Is there any way to track what/where the issue is?

Maybe a getResources or getPage call with &limit=`100` ?
