Hello, my apologies if I’ve missed any posts regarding this issue. Here is the description:

I can preview the documents when I am logged in to the manager as the admin but they do not show up when I view them in a non-logged in broweser session. I’ve confirmed this in Firefox/Safari. Safari generates the following error, "Safari can’t open the page “http://www.youngrhetoric.com/index.php?id=11”. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005)" After a lot of tinkering I have found that the Successful Install document created during the install actually does show up as do duplicates of that original document. When I edit the document too much, however, it stops showing up in public browsing. I say "too much" because it seems to disappear after I save it a couple of times. Randomly, the pages will appear, but they quickly disappear again. This error occurs whether the pages are cacheable or not and after I clear my browser’s cache or reset Safari. The documents are published and have the correct public web access permissions as far as I am aware. Changing the template has no effect on this issue. Since I have the one original page that works, you should be able to observe this problem by visiting my site at:

    http://www.youngrhetoric.com/

    I am not using FURLs.

    Webserver/Database
I’ve contacted my hosting service, ix webhosting, regarding my server and database specs as they are not readily available from my admin page.

This is from the MODx system info:
    MODx version 0.9.6
    Version codename rev 2767
    phpInfo() 4.3.11
    Access permissions Enabled
    Server Time 23:51:53
    Local Time 00:51:53
    Server Offset 1 h

    Apache Version Apache
    Apache Release 10331100
    Apache API Version 19990320
    System Linux web149.opentransfer.com 2.6.19.2-UP #1 Mon Jan 29 08:25:57 CST 2007 i686
    MySQL Client API version 4.1.20

I have not made any changes to the MODx install other than un-commenting Register_Globals in the .htaccess file, renaming both the ht.access files, and set the server offset. I’ve uploaded and installed several times.

Thanks in advance for your time and I look forward to hearing from somebody.

    Taylor

I’ve seen very odd Safari problems pop up from time to time and it’s usually a weird server configuration issue and hard to track down. I can reload the front page that fails in Safari on my end and they appear in various states (completely, partially or not at all actually) ... definitely acting like a server configuration issue. I can’t get other pages to render in any part.

Hi Ryan, I’ve also noticed that Safari doesn’t reliably display my one working page so it seems that I have several symptoms of a potentially odd server configuration:

        1. I have one page that displays reliably and several pages that don’t display at all in Safari, Camino, or Firefox (Mac and PC). Any new documents or duplicate documents of the one working page that have been saved more than a couple times do not display at all.

        2. The site preview only works in Firefox.

        3. Safari does not display my one working page correctly.

        4. The site manager doesn’t seem to be working now. I’ve made a couple of changes including resetting the template on all pages, adding a duplicate page, and changing the menu name of one document that are not displaying.

I’m pretty much a novice at everything site/dba/php related but I’ve done a lot of poking around and I have observed the following, which may or may not be helpful.

        - The root folder is youngrhetoric.com not public_html
        - When I browse the site_content table, all of the data is stored correctly and the settings for each page are the same for the working and non-working pages. Updates to these data are not being displayed by the site preview
        - The phpMyAdmin is versioned as follows: phpMyAdmin - 2.8.0.1 *MySQL client version: 4.0.16 whereas the MySQL version is 4.1.20
        - The MySQL charset is set to UTF-8 Unicode (utf8) and the connection collation is set to utf8_unicode_ci but some of the tables, including site_content, show collation as latin1_swedish_ci for the text string field types.
        - There is a warning that "PRIMARY and INDEX keys should not both be set for column `id`"

I’ve also opened a trouble ticket with the hosting service.

        Thanks,

        Taylor

Do you have the permissions set correctly in the assets/cache folder and all the files in it?

I believe they are set correctly. It appears that the following folders/files permissions are set as indicated in the readme file:

            777
            assets/cache/
            assets/export/
            assets/images/

            666
            assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php
            assets/cache/sitePublishing.idx.php

            644
            manager/includes/config.inc.php

Are there others that need to be set?
