Is there a way to list articles by their popularity? getResources et al are great at listing the RECENT posts, but what about popularity? Presumably, we'd need a plugin that iterates a page hit counter.

Articles obscures some of the typical MODX machinery (e.g. Snippet calls)... I'm wondering if it's possible to include TVs in the latest posts -- the formatting chunk provided as an example does not utilize any non-standard fields (i.e. no TVs). Presumably there's a getResources call behind the scenes, but apparently it does not have &includeTVs=`1` in it, and there's nothing in the GUI to support this.

Any thoughts on further pimping the MODX blog ride?

Actually there are settings to include TVs, including listing the TVs you want to include, and whether to process the TV output. They are near the bottom of the Advanced Settings tab.

Wow, thanks -- right in front of me.

How about including the comments_count in the recent blog posts? I found that the [[+comments_count]] does not work, except for the single post template. If we want to list the # of comments on each post in the most recent posts, I had to use QuipCount and figure out the thread name to use:

        [[!QuipCount? &thread=`article-b9-[[+id]]`]]

I updated the docs: http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/Articles.Theming+Articles [ed. note: Everettg_99 last edited this post 14 years, 3 months ago.]

Ah, you mean the sidebar. I think you can adjust the snippet calls in the templates; I would recommend duplicating the default templates, assign the duplicates to the main Articles resource and the individual Articles, and editing your duplicates.

The default uses placeholders, but I seem to recall using custom templates with ordinary getResources and other snippet tags. [ed. note: sottwell last edited this post 14 years, 3 months ago.]
