Ever find yourself waiting on the MODX Revolution Resource Tree to do something like expand, or finish expanding so you can do something like edit a Template Variable? Sure you can do things like have another Tab with Resource Tree open and use your browser Find feature, but I'm wondering if it could be easier and faster using keyboard shortcuts.
Revo already uses keyboard shortcuts for things like Saving a Resource. It's really convienient, and makes the manager experience more 'app like'. What if say,
- Keyboard shortcut opens modal dialog (similar to Quick Edit window)
- type a TV name
- hit enter
- now your editing that TV
Originally I imagined something like this being a browser extension with all sorts of other possibilities but seems like something described above could be a core feature or add-on.
Note: Something like this may only actually be faster if it's capable of caching the resource tree somehow, and not having to 'look it up' in order to allow you to search for a TV name

Instead of limiting it to a TV, I actually really like that idea!
The way I would do it is that whatever shortcut opens up the modal where you start typing the name of any element or resource title, which gets searched for right away through the power of ajax. The dropdown would fill with matching objects and mention or show through an icon what kind of object it is.
I can also imagine some filters (Resources, Templates, TVs, Chunks, Snippets, Plugins) on top and two buttons , one to open the quick update modal (ctrl+enter?), and one to open it in the full panel view (enter).
Totally, was kinda using TV as an example. What do you think of any particular optimizations for the AJAX search part, such as caching the resource tree somehow
