I just ran across this issue and wanted to see if anyone else has encountered it and what they did to resolve it.
I have a rather large site (more than 2000 resources) that was built in EVO. I just spent the last month migrating it to REVO 2.2.X and everything went smoothly.
In QAing the "new" site I came across an interesting issue. It seems that the friendly URL handling has changed in REVO and it is much more strict. In EVO I was able to access any page using .htm were in REVO I can only access (childless) pages with .html and if the item has children, it must have a trailing / rather then an extension.
Is there a setting in REVO that I am missing that would allow me to behave similar to EVO? I normally wouldn't care but seeing how this is a large site that has been around for a while, I don't want this upgrade to have a negative impact on Google results.
If there isn't a setting, is it possible with some htaccess trickery or perhaps a plugin that can be built that if a 404 occurs, it can test the .html or / variation of the URL before giviging an official not found.
Go to "System > Content types", type ".html" under "File Extensions" column.
Go to "System > System settings", filter by area, select Friendly URL, type ".html" for the value of "Container Suffix".
