Page hidden from menu generates 404 when loaded via URL

I have a resource that is published but "hidden from menus" (a members-only page). When I use a direct url to access it, I get a 404 error, both on my computer and a completely separate one belonging to someone else. Site is Revo 2.2.0-pl2 (advanced).

How to remedy, please? Thanks!

The "Hide From Menus" checkbox shouldn't have any effect when you go directly to the URL. Are you sure you didn't protect it by putting it in a Resource Group and connecting that Resource Group to a User Group with a Resource Group ACL entry with a context of 'web'?

Thanks for your reply, BobRay. That resource is in a group called "Members" . My test user is in a group (called Members) which has Load permission, and can access doc after login. Of course, I can't get past the error page to the login page at this point (the login is on the page that requires login, so I intended to provide the URL so that only people who /can/ login would visit the page).

I'll go through the entry in your book again, maybe things will become clearer.

If the login page requires a user to be in a certain group, how can a user ever access that page? He's not logged in yet so MODx has no way to know who he is or what groups he belongs to. Unless I misunderstood what you've said about the page.

Ideally would like to provide a login area only to people who know where to find it (on the members login page), similar to what's covered in the Security Tutorial/Making Members Pages ("..classify pages to be only visible for certain user groups") This page should be visible to the "Members" group, but generates a 404 error when url is loaded. Undoubtedly I'm missing something...

I don't think there's any reason for that Login page to belong to any Resource Groups. If you remove it from all groups, it should work as you want.
