Creating a Custom Snippet alternative to GetResources

Do custom snippets get cached the same as getResources etc (presuming you are not calling uncached)?

One thing I'd love to learn is how I could create use your example of creating static html copies but that a) became static when saving the resource rather than when someone visited the page and b) updated (ie got overwritten) whenever the resource changed, if we could then serve the static version it would speed up page load remarkably

They do; all tags and elements that get processed get cached per Resource. You can also use getCache with just about any other Snippet (or even Chunks or TV's) to cache the output separately from the Resource( s ).

Hopefully I will have some more time to work on a tutorial for doing this in the near future. ATM, I do not, but will try to at least formalize what you are referring to as soon as possible so others can look into extending it for specific purposes.
