    Hi All,
Yesterday I uninstalled modx revo 2.2.0 from my server (using it to learn) and installed revo 2.2.4 on to a subfolder of a live site, under httpdocs, to redesign new website.
all is working well and seems to have installed correctly except that the site start page (my home page) is not displaying the suffix /home.html
the other resource's created are showing correctly eg. test.html, error-page.html etc
I have Bob's book, MODX the offical guide and it states that this happens at first (page 60 Testing FURLs), I have been through the forums and the installation/setup procedures, Am I missing something - I just cannot get the home page to show suffix
any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Check the container_suffix System Setting. Go to System -> System Settings and type container in the search box at the upper right.

You might also play with the container checkbox on the Home page's Settings tab.

The next thing to try, if you haven't already, is deleting all the files in the core/cache directory and clearing your browser cache and cookies.

And thanks for buying my book. smiley

        Thanks for the reply Bob

a bit confused, I have tried everything I think including what you said, even removed it a couple more times and made clean installs, then wondered if it could be anything to do with me putting it on a live site, so I have a VPS with spare and dorment domains so I put modx on one of them, same result, then read your book again, huh!! think my IQ has just dropped -
FURLs generally won't work with your home page at first, and it won't get the suffix (e.g. .html) I guess that means the site start page (home page) never shows as www.domain.com/home.html
I can get all the other resource's to show .html except home.html,
Is this supposed to work like this, if so why and does this need to show up for SEO
or is this a bug, no matter what I try - cannot get home page suffix to show.

Maybe I should read my book again too. wink

Edit the Home page and on the settings page, check the "Freeze URI" checkbox. An input field will appear below it that lets you set a specific URL for the page. Add .html to the end and save the page.

Be aware that if you change the URL, offsite links to the old URL may or may not work once you change it and cached internal links probably won't work either. It the home page is also the error_page, they'll end up there anyway, but it will be a little slower.

The site_start will ALWAYS 301 redirect to the site_url; otherwise you would have two urls representing the same Resource.

It's kind of amazing that I never noticed that. wink

So if you set the uri and freeze it for the site_start page as I suggested, those settings will be ignored?

Bob, I was comming back to you about this, got side tracked with my real job.

From what's been said, the home page (site-start page) does not show a suffix, if it does then I am at a loss just how to achieve this.

They are not ignored; the uri field, friendly url settings, and Content Type definitions still define a valid alternative URI for the start_page which will properly 301 redirect users who request that URI to the site_start. But the final destination for users who access this URI will always be the site_url, so it will never show in the browser.
