      All the directories appear to have the correct ownership. Very odd.

          I did have a similar situation. Files tab empty, only a folder icon with the word Media.

          After enabling PHP error reporting, my webserver logged errors on missing PHP functions. All were related to the Multibyte String module.

          I have installed that module, and after a restart al worked fine!

            Is that something the hosting provider needs to enable on their end or can it be done through php.ini or some other way?
