Friendly URLs and modx manager disappearing?

This is driving me nuts and I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am not particularly brilliant with coding which I like modx because it is easier to use than most content management programs, but have been having one problem after another with modx manager loading. I keep having problems with the modx manager only loading the top menu and the feed and undefined showing up or nothing at all where the manager content should load. I read on how to fix that by manually deleting the cache. This does fix the problem. However, every attempt I make at getting friendly urls to work wipes out the manager. I get them to work, but then when I log into manager I get only the top menu to load and nothing else. If I delete .htaccess and wipe out the cache then everything goes back to normal. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem? I am using modx revolution 2.2.2.

Try turning off the compress_js and compress_css System Settings in System -> System Settings (type compress in the search box at the upper right).

That is off. I turned that off the first time I ran into issues. Thanks for the suggestion.

Is there an ht.access file in the /manager directory that turns off the rewrite engine off? If so, try renaming it to .htaccess

Well, that was already set to off, but I did manage to fix the problem.

Once I turned off the rewrite for secure requests here everything worked. Not sure how important this is to have turned on.

It's only important if you've got a need for SSL certificate on this particular site and have installed said certificate. Otherwise, leave it commented out or delete the entire section.
