    Hi everybody,

I need to create an admin user who has access to only one document (and its children) in the manager.

what is the right way to achieve that?

    Modx version is 2.2.0-pl2 (traditional)

    thanks a lot
    alessandro

You're going to assign a specific resource to a specific user group, created just for that one user. (this part's easy, drag and drop the resource). But you'll have to set up the user group, contexts, permissions/access policies, and the user first.

Review this entire section at Bob's Guides carefully. http://bobsguides.com/revolution-permissions.html
Review the entire security section in the documentation here http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Security

Then follow the tutorials at Bob's Guides. Carefully. Bob's Guides is nice and clearly written.

It's a tad confusing (understatement) but you'll want to be very familiar with the documentation before you do this so you understand what's happening. Even then, it's easy to miss a step. Post back here when/if you run into issues.

The first step is to put the User's Resource in a Resource and the User in a User Group, then connect the two with a Context Access ACL entry for the 'mgr' Context.

The User's User Group will also need a Context Access ACL entry for the 'web' Context (assuming that the resource is in that context) in order to be able to see the resource in the tree.

Then, you'll need to add all other resources to a Resource Group (I call it AllDocs) and connect that Resource Group to the Administrator User Group with a Context Access ACL entry with a context of 'mgr'. The will keep the user from seeing the other Resources. I think you can use the Batcher Extra to do that more conveniently.

You can use the DefaultResourceGroup plugin to add future Resources to the AllDocs group automatically.
