I’m running ModX 0.9.6, hosted on BlueHost
    Linux, Apache (versions???)
    PHP Version 5.1.6

I’ve been working on a site using Firefox 2.0.0.5 on my Mac 10.4.10. I’m aware of some browser problems in Safari, but Firefox has been working well... but when I hand the site over to the client, he can’t see the images I’ve uploaded. At first I thought it was another browser issue (he’s on Windows XP), but nope, it’s trickier than that: when I log into the /manager/ as his user on my Mac (both of us are administators), I can’t see any files in /assets/images/ and if I try to upload them, I get the error:

"Uploading of this kind of file isn’t allowed!"

These are normal .jpg files, only 40kb or so. I can upload using FTP, but I want to have the client be able to upload images on his own. Sure, the easy way out of this is for us to swap logins because my login works fine for all of this.

The images that I uploaded with my admin user show the owner as being the FTPadmin username, and permissions of 644. Images that I uploaded manually using FTP show up as permissions 000 (!?), but again, my admin user is able to see all the files and place them into documents, but my client’s admin user can’t see them or upload them.

Has anyone had problems uploading when one use gets stiffed and another works fine? I looked around, but I didn’t see any post that had this issue. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

    Thanks.

      Hi,

I sugeest logging in as the user that you created when you installed ModX, then go to Security and check the settings of that user.

Security => Manager Users => User tab..then check the 4 uploadable fields...the easy way is to click Use system config checkbox.

Maybe that will solve your problems.

Brilliant! Yes, that’s all that was required. The only other related question I have is what is the unit for limiting the file size? Is it MB? Presumably...

Thanks again for the helpful post.

I believe it’s in bytes. So if you want to limit to 4MB: 4096

Taff, I have to also thank you! I was stuck in the same situation where I was getting the exact same error caused from the same problem. The only unknown for me is whether or not the other user that used that account changed it, or if it somehow changed itself...I w ould assume it was the user, but again, I’m not sure why they would be fooling around in there to begin with. Anyways, thanks!
